On December 12, 2018, the traditional Christmas show lecture on chemistry by the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences took place in the large lecture hall in Zittau. Under the motto "A terribly nice family goes to university", the students, under the direction of M.Sc. Christian Trapp and Dipl.-Chem. (FH) Matthias Jeschke, delighted around 300 spectators.
A chemical play was performed in which shoe salesman Al Bundy and his terribly nice family ended up in Zittau. The two children Kelly and Bud enrolled at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, so that Al had to open a new shoe store in Zittau. Numerous chemical experiments prepared by former and current chemistry students were integrated into the stage play. A multitude of witty dialogues paired with small explosions, lightning, burning shoe racks, color plays and an impressive final fireworks display were presented to the audience. In addition to small spontaneous performances by the audience, the Chancellor of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences - Ms. Karin Hollstein - and the Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences - Ms. Anke Zenker-Hoffmann - also had a guest role.
The event team would like to thank all those involved for their great commitment, the sponsors for their financial support and wish everyone a peaceful and relaxing Christmas season and a good start to the New Year.
