1st basic course (2024): Systemic work in child and youth welfare

Specialists (psychologists, educators, social workers, social and remedial educators) in "educational support" facilities, youth welfare offices, counseling facilities.

• Degree as a state-recognized educator, state-recognized social worker or social pedagogue, psychologist (others on request).
• Professional field of work in which the implementation of systemic ideas and approaches is possible or may become possible.
• For the transition from the basic course to the advanced course: Participation in the advanced course must be approved informally by the course instructors.

By teaching systemic thinking and systemic methods, the participants' professional competence in the field of "educational support" is expanded. The implementation of systemic work in daily professional practice is accompanied by a process.

A wide variety of methods - teaching, demonstrations, role plays, small group work, video sequences (including Arist v. Schlippe, Haim Omer, Insoo Kim Berg, Steve de Shazer), reflection and, of course, practicing, practicing, practicing!

Participants will be provided with extensive teaching material as well as course and photo documentation.

Dates / Scope of the Continuing Education Program (Basic Course):

Module 1: “Genogram, Conversation Techniques 1”: October 16–18, 2023

Module 2: “Conversation Techniques 2, Miracle Question”: January 22–24, 2024

Module 3: “Circular Questioning, Family Board”: April 18–20, 2024

Module 4: “Initial Interview, Timeline”: June 3–5, 2024

Module 5: "Rituals, Metaphors": August 26–28, 2024

9 a.m. – 6 p.m. each day

150 units of in-person sessions (45 min. each),

plus:

40 units of intervision, 25 units of specialized literature study and independent study

Graduates of the basic course have the opportunity to participate in the advanced course in Systemic Counseling (150 units) following completion of the basic course. The detailed schedule for the advanced course will be announced at a later date. According to current plans, the course will begin in October 2024.

Upon completion of all modules of the basic course, as well as the additional learning requirements listed above, participants will be awarded the university certificate “Systemic Work in Child and Youth Services.”

In addition, participants may obtain the umbrella organization certificate from the German Society for Systemic Pedagogy (DGsP), which is subject to a fee.

€1,525.00 total price for the basic course modules, the university certificate, and the participant materials. Each module costs €305.00.

The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will issue invoices individually as agreed upon during the first course module. Monthly installments or partial payments, including payments on a per-module basis, are possible. For participants receiving a grant from the SAB (see Funding), an interim certificate will be issued to document their eligibility for the grant.

Participants may incur additional costs of approximately 50.00 to 100.00 euros for additional certificates from umbrella organizations.

Participants from Saxony can apply to the Sächsische Aufbaubank for a subsidy toward the total costs. The terms and conditions of the Saxon Continuing Education Voucher are available at https://www.sab.sachsen.de/weiterbildungsscheck-individuell.

The application must be submitted before you make a binding registration. Participants who, at the start of the basic course, already intend to pursue the two-year training program to become a systemic counselor should consult with the SAB to determine whether these courses should be applied for as a package together with the basic course.
