Second degree

Second degree applicants are applicants who have already completed a degree at a German university in another course of study. For degree programs with a general selection procedure, admission is limited to three percent of the available study places.

When applying for a second degree course, the same conditions apply as when applying for a first degree course. Further information can be obtained from the Admissions Office or the General Student Advisory Service .

Charging tuition fees

Students may be charged fees for a course of study leading to a further professionally qualifying university degree that is not a Master's degree course based on a Bachelor's degree if they already hold a Master's, Diplom or Magister degree or a degree in a course of study with a state or ecclesiastical final examination.

If the first degree course was completed with a Bachelor's degree, no fees are currently due for the second degree course, provided that it is also a Bachelor's degree course. In consecutive degree programs, the continuation of studies after the Bachelor's degree is not generally considered a second degree.

The fee is charged on the basis of a fee notice. It currently amounts to EUR 300.00 per semester.
