It has been an integral part of the lives of children in the European City of Görlitz-Zgorzelec for 15 years: the Görlitz Children's Academy. Scientists from all over Germany answer exciting questions from their research for children. The Görlitz Children's Academy is a joint event of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the Senckenberg Museum für Naturkunde Görlitz.
The lectures are aimed at children aged 8 to 12. Participation is free of charge and at the child's own risk. Parents are not allowed during the lecture. As in a real university, children receive a student card and a diploma at the end of the semester.
Simultaneous interpretation is provided for Polish children.
The 45-minute child-friendly lectures take place approximately once a month on Fridays at 4:00 p.m., alternating between the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the Humboldt House of the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History. Participation is free of charge.
