At the HSZG, you, dear pupils, are already welcome during your time at school. We will introduce you to studying through various events.
We want to strengthen your ability to decide on a course of study!
Below we have described the events we offer in detail. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. You can also find further suggestions on our social media channels, on the HSZG YouTube channel and in the numerous podcasts on our degree programs.
Pupils come to the university for a day and get a taste of studying.
In addition to the academic exchange, the program also includes getting to know the HSZG with the Görlitz and Zittau campuses, the canteen, the library and local student life.
You can try out studying almost any time during the school year. How such a day is organized, we have written down here.
The HSZG is at your side as a partner for your Complex Achievement (KL) and Special Learning Achievement (BELL). We can offer you experimental support, especially in scientific, technical and commercial subjects. Once you have developed an idea for your topic, it is best to ask your secondary school teacher whether there are any contacts with teachers at the HSZG. If not, you are welcome to contact us. We will let you know as soon as possible whether supervision is possible.
You can complete your compulsory school internship with a focus on STEM from year 9 in the engineering, economics and natural sciences faculties at the university. The HSZG can also be a practical partner for students at technical colleges (FOS). Those interested can also complete additional internships during the vacations. How does that work? Find out more here.
Do you like chemistry as a school subject? Then why not take part in our ONLINE lectures on interesting topics from CHEMIE . Here you will be on the trail of scientific phenomena in an understandable way.
We have listed the current dates and topics in detail in the poster and also in the calendar of events above. Click on the link and register online.
International Neisse-Elektro:
The electrical engineering Olympiad "Neisse-Elektro" is held in Zittau. Every year, around 30 pupils from German, Polish and Czech schools in the Euroregion take part. The young talents are nominated for this international Olympiad by the physics teachers of the participating schools. There will be workshops and excursions focusing on electrical engineering, followed by the final Olympiad at the Zittau campus.
Visit the Neisse-Elektro website.
IT Young Talent Award:
The IT Young Talent Award is presented to teams of pupils who have developed creative IT projects to overcome small and large challenges in everyday life as well as in school or working life. The prize was created by InterNexumGmbH, is under the patronage of the Saxon Minister President Michael Kretschmer and is supported by many partners from the business world. Pupils of at least 14 years of age from general education schools are eligible to take part. The winners will receive laptops and IT gadgets and can present their ideas at the IT Summer Festival.
You can find all the information about the IT Young Talent Award here.
Chemistry Olympiad for year 9:
The Chemistry Olympiad is prepared and held every year in cooperation with the Saxon Education Agency Regional Office Bautzen and the Chemistry Department of our university. The best teams of pupils who were able to prevail in the first stage of the performance comparison in the grammar schools compete for the best possible ranking in chemical calculations and experimental tasks in the university laboratory.
Individual lessons can take place in the university laboratories as part of the school curriculum. An excursion to the university laboratories is particularly suitable for the subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computer science.
Our subject catalog (see below under "Download") contains many individually bookable courses. If required, we can also come to the secondary school with a specialist subject.
This involves arrangements lasting several days, which are realized as part of project days, school trips and hiking days with the schools. Pupils then work on scientific-experimental tasks or take part in student events. The attractive supporting program is Upper Lusatia: a vacation region with rewarding excursion destinations! Why not combine study orientation and relaxation?

Like all fireworks, our events for schoolchildren are unique. We put a lot of commitment and time into the preparation and implementation. In order for our work to be well received by the students, we need your cooperation and support.
Participation in our events is free of charge for the students (travel, meals and accommodation costs are to be borne by the students themselves) and is agreed in writing. For the selection of the specialist topics, please use the topic catalog (see below under "Download"). Please make a pre-selection in agreement with the students. We strive to realize your topic requests.
Insurance protection: If you participate in school (e.g. as part of a school project week), the school’s accident insurance will take effect in the event of damage. Students who organize their participation at the university (privately) are insured against accidents through the university. Liability insurance is to be borne privately in each case.
