The university management, teaching staff, researchers and employees in the faculties, institutes, central facilities and university administration work together to ensure and continuously develop quality in studies, continuing education, research and administration. The quality policy of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is set out in themission statement and the university development plan and described in the form of quality guidelines.
Furthermore Students and teaching staff have been using established procedures, instruments and offers for quality assurance in studies and teaching for several years (for a historical outline, see Milestones). It should be emphasized that, in principle, all degree programmes at the university are accredited (Bachelor's, Master's) or certified (Diploma), thus providing proof of quality for these study programmes. Furthermore, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences regularly conducts surveys of its students as part of the teaching evaluation, of its graduates as part of the Saxon Alumni Studies and of other groups.
The systematic application and control of the procedures and instruments of quality assurance and development in academic education follows the quality control loop and is the subject of the quality management system for studies and teaching. The coordination and supervision of the system is the responsibility of the University Development and Communication Unit (Quality Management department). The effectiveness of the system was confirmed in 2019 through successful system accreditation.
