Our support association was founded on February 6, 1993 by a number of personalities from Upper Lusatia. Since then, it has been supporting and promoting the development of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and has established its statutes as a non-profit association. The promotion of higher education and the academic work of students are particularly important concerns. For this reason, the association awards annual prizes for outstanding achievements that are exemplary for the quality of education at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
With the help of its members from all areas of public life, the association promotes the exchange of ideas and experiences between the university, business, politics and the public. In doing so, it is very aware of the university's special location in the border triangle of Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany. The cross-border cooperation in the three-country region with the partner universities in Wroclaw, Jelenia Gora and Liberec is a special feature throughout Germany, to which its attention and support is directed.
