Research focus Materials - Structure - Surfaces

Super-light and highly durable - these are the materials of the future.

They need to be efficient, economical and environmentally friendly - these are the challenges facing scientists and researchers. By simply processing natural fibers, high static and dynamic forces can be absorbed and transmitted while maintaining the lightweight construction principle. Another advantage lies in the energy-saving production processes compared to metallic components. It is therefore a question of full functionality with cost-effective processing and low product weight. For this reason, in addition to the development of manufacturing technologies, strength tests and simulation methods for crack propagation also play a key role in the research work of the HSZG.

Wafer-thin and extremely strong - these are the surface layers developed at the Institute of Surface Technology . The institute conducts research primarily in the field of various surface coatings and the necessary pre-treatments, so that questions of surface structure and material selection also play a decisive role.
