Leave of absence is only granted upon written application.
The application must be submitted by the end of the re-registration period, stating the reasons.
Please note: The application must only be submitted to the Admissions Office once it has been confirmed by the responsible examination board of the department. Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be returned to the student.
Upon application (during the re-registration period at the beginning of the semester), students can be granted a leave of absence from their studies for a maximum of two semesters if they can provide evidence of good cause.
Leave of absence for the first semester is not possible.
During the period of leave of absence, students remain members of the university and must re-register and pay the semester fee in accordance with the information on re-registration .
Examination and study achievements can be completed during the leave of absence. The deadlines and regulations of the study and examination regulations of the individual degree programs apply.
Repeat and catch-up examinations are possible on application.
