Since 10 years our emphasis is on crosscultural and multidisciplinary exchange between Universities in western and eastern Europe.
Our aim is to foster, to intensify and to develop knowledge transfer between the East and the West. We also aim at increasing the intermeshment - at curriculum, didactic and organizational level as well as increasing intercultural communication and decision-making and responsibility.
Our results can be interesting for teaching at universities as well as for general management. In September 2005 the national "Nekrassov-University Kostroma" (Russian Federation) represented by Prof. Dr. Lidia Vaulina and the "Evangelische Hochschule Darmstadt", represented by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Alexa Köhler-Offierski and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Gert Straßer established the "Laboratory for Cross-Cultural Studies" (LABIK, from the German "Laboratorium für interkulturelle Studien"). This was done within the framework of an international conference at the "Nekrassov-University Kostroma". The maxim of the work of LABIK is "culture of dialogue - dialogue of cultures".
Currently LABIK is represented by 24 members originating from 6 countries. University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz is active member since 2011.
