Erasmus+ studies

ERASMUS+ is the European Union's action program for cross-border cooperation in Europe for the period 2021 - 2027.

In Germany, Erasmus+ is coordinated by the National Agency of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) together with the universities.

In addition to stays in Europe (KA131), study visits to selected partner universities in Kazakhstan and Georgia can also be funded from 2019 (KA171).

Central objectives of the Erasmus program:

  • Increasing international mobility
  • Facilitation of recognition
  • Creating transnational study programs
  • Improvement of language skills

  • Special status of Swiss universities

Following the referendum "Against Mass Immigration", which was held in Switzerland in February 2014, Switzerland's participation in Erasmus+ has been suspended for the time being. Although this means that Swiss universities cannot receive   EU funding, they continue to participate in the exchange of students and staff within the framework of existing university partnerships.

This is made possible in part by the SEMP, the "Swiss-European Mobility Programme". The SEMP offers mobile students, teachers and staff who apply for a stay at a Swiss university the opportunity to apply for a financial grant. Further information on this can be found at at https://www.movetia.ch/programme/schweizer-programm-zu-erasmus/tertiaerstufe/europaeische-mobilitaet-tertiaerstufe/ and at the International Office.

And this is how it works:

Apply as usual via our university's online application procedure (please note application deadlines) and select the relevant partner university from the menu in the application form. If you are offered a place at one of our Swiss partner universities after evaluating all applications , we will send you more information at . The main difference to funding within Erasmus+ is that in the case of a stay at a Swiss university, the financial grant is paid directly by the host university. Currently, the grant for exchange students is between 330 and 390 euros/month. The current funding rates can also be found on the above website .

  • Visa Turkey

    Visa matters

German nationals do not require a visa for a study stay of up to three months. If your stay is longer, you must apply for an "Erasmus Learning Residence Permit" as soon as possible after your arrival in Turkey. The Erasmus coordinator at the Turkish partner university can help you with this.

Students with foreign citizenship should contact the Turkish embassy in Berlin directly to find out whether they need to apply for a visa before departure.

You can find more information on this and other helpful information about your stay in Turkey on the DAAD website.
