Zittau and Görlitz - You've come to the right place!

In addition to its beautiful and lovingly restored old town center, Zittau offers you the possibility of excursions into the nearby Zittau Mountains. The Landeskrone mountain on the outskirts of Görlitz is a wonderful destination for an extended hike or cycle tour. A cycle tour along the Neisse is also always a good idea. You pass through various towns and villages and quickly end up in Poland. The neighboring country is perfect for excursions. In the shopping streets of Zgorzelec you can spend a whole day! But  JeleniaGóra or Wroclaw  are also not far away - perfect for a weekend trip with your new friends!

For those interested in history, the city museum offers interesting insights into historical Zittau. You can also marvel at the Zittau lenten cloths, which are a worldwide rarity. Discover Zittau from below and join a cellar tour. In old times Zittau was not only a trading metropolis but also a brewery deluxe. The tour leads through various beer cellars and historic vaults. On the other hand, you can climb up the 60m high tower of theSt. John's Churchfrom here you have a magnificent view of the city and theZittau Mountains.

In Görlitz, we definitely recommend avisit to  St. Peter's Church with its great view of the Polish side. Here you are in the middle of the old town, which has already servedas the backdrop for many Hollywood productions . The beautiful old buildings of the Obermarkt and Untermarkt are a must-see, and directly behind the Obermarkt is the Görlitz Theater. Next door is the Art Nouveau department store, a real gem of architectural history! Then on to the "Landskronbrauerei". There you will learn a lot more about the favorite drink of Görlitz students!

If you want to relax and enjoy culture after lectures, visit the Gerhart Hauptmann Theater , where there are also regular readings or philharmonic concerts. In addition, there is always one of the WG and dormitory parties going on somewhere. After all, semester kick-offs, mountain parties and the end of the semester want to be celebrated.

You can always find a suitable party in Görlitz. First of all, of course, there is the student club Maus, where there is always a party. There are also often bar evenings or parties. So it never gets boring. Other clubs in Görlitz are the Nostromo and the First Club, where there is always something going on at the weekend. And if there's nothing going on everywhere, there's guaranteed to be a flat share that throws a  sangria eveningor a barbecue !

In addition to relaxed sunbathing, the Olbersdorfer See offers numerous opportunities to get rid of pounds gained in the mensa. You can quickly cycle or jog around the lake or explore the area on an all-terrain Segway. In addition to the wide range of university sports, from the gym to swimming and table tennis to Zumba, there is something for everyone. Otherwise, you can also get active in sports at the HSG.

The same applies to the Lake Berzdorf in Görlitz. A bike ride there and back is around 10 km. A must for active sports enthusiasts. In summer, you can also gowindsurfing here ! In contrast, the sunset on the Landeskrone on the outskirts of Görlitz is wonderfully relaxing.
