Mr. Panke takes us on a historical tour of Görlitz as the head of the department for monument protection. He will look at how the city has developed over the centuries and how evidence of the various building developments can still be seen today: for example, the well-known Görlitz hall houses, the Art Nouveau houses or social housing projects of the 20th century. He will also look at the development in the Polish part of the European City of Görlitz/Zgorzelec. How have the demands on living spaces changed over the centuries?
