New theater series at the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater with an extra offer for students

Bringing a play to the stage means weeks of rehearsals in the run-up to the performance, discussions with the director, the dramaturge, the technical team and the workshops - but our theater series, which we will be staging in Görlitz and Zittau this season from October, does not require weeks of preparation. Selfies of a Utopia scratches at the crust of the theater.
The rules of the game are very simple: the author and director Nicola Bremer writes a new text for each episode. Three actors speak this text - without ever having read it beforehand. They spontaneously act out stage directions, which the director sitting in front of the stage holds up on signs. Above all, the improv series is funny and not at all dogged. And so the young author and director creates snapshots of the present and develops a strictly regulated anarchic entertainment with the ensemble that frees the actors from roles and rehearsals, but at the same time keeps them properly subjugated. Each episode of the series builds on the next. The audience can join in on any of the individual evenings.
In 2018, Nicola Bremer was nominated as best up-and-coming artist for Selfies of a Utopia by the magazine Theater heute. So forget Netflix! Come to the theater - the series starts on 13 October in Zittau and on 14 October in Görlitz!
New for this season are last-minute tickets for students from 15 minutes before the start of the performance for €5.00.
In the 2021/2022 season, the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater would like to address students interested in theater with a special offer. Director and actor Eike Zastrow, who is currently studying culture and management at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, is building a bridge between the university and the theater with a one-year theater club for students.
The project is not just aimed at anyone who enjoys being in the spotlight and can't wait to get a taste of the theater. Anyone who enjoys writing texts, telling stories, can imagine designing a stage set or costumes or would like to participate in any other way in putting on a play with the help of professionals is welcome.

As a small foretaste, students interested in theater can get to know each other during a joint visit to the first episode of the theater series Selfies einer Utopie by Nicola Bremer on Wednesday, October 13. The meeting with Lisa Karich from the GHT is at 19:15 in the foyer of Theater Zittau.
