Get-to-know-you hour

At the first International Coffee Hour of the winter semester, students from over 15 nations were able to get to know each other in a cozy atmosphere

On October 16, 2019, the International Coffee Hour of the 2019/2020 winter semester kicked off with a get-to-know-you hour. Over 70 students and staff from Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and Studentenwerk Dresden took part. This large group got to know each other through various questions in the context of get-to-know-you games with sporting interludes and funny anecdotes. We learned a lot of new things about China, India, Indonesia, the USA, Guatemala, Brazil, Yemen, Vietnam, Iran, Syria, Morocco, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Peru, Russia, Germany and Bangladesh. After the games, the guests took the opportunity to make new friends and get to know other students in smaller groups.

Some students offered to present their countries and cultures even more intensively at the next event, the country evening. They will show us photos of their home country, play a typical instrument or even bring a few small national sweets. All students are cordially invited to listen to the very interesting country and cultural presentations on October 30 or to make a small cultural contribution themselves.   The International Coffee Hour is a cooperative event organized by the Studentenwerk Dresden and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. It is a meeting place for all cosmopolitan students. The aim of the event is to offer students from all nations a platform to get to know each other.
