In the first step, the course provides you with introductory knowledge about the Islamic religion, its origins and history of development. In the second step, you will gain an insight into the various denominations of the Islamic faith and their system of values and norms. A key focus here is on the diverse, but sometimes contradictory religious practices of Muslims.

An event organized by the VHS Görlitz in cooperation with the project "Religion-sensitive integration culture in Eastern Saxony" of the TRAWOS Institute of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
Basic religious education plays an important role in the successful integration of migrants and refugees. It forms the basis for tolerance, mutual understanding and good coexistence. The series is aimed at interested parties, those involved in intercultural or interreligious work and migrants. The events consist of keynote speeches, encounters, discussions with the speakers and experience-oriented components. You will acquire a basic knowledge of different cultures, denominations, religions and world views and gain authentic insights into different ways of life. In this way, you will learn about the differences and similarities between secular and religious values and be able to relate them to each other.

This measure is co-financed with tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament and the district of Görlitz.
