Lecture series as part of the East-West College at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in the summer semester 2019

"Work in Europe"

- Thursdays, 16.15 - 17.45 in GI/0.01 -

How do we work in Europe, especially in the East Saxon border region? Is work today a burden or a pleasure, a means to an end or an end in itself? What characterizes good, what bad (or precarious) work? Are there uniform criteria for this or does it depend on the 'location' of the company or the observer? How can European and regional policy, but also 'micropolitics' (i.e. within the framework of individual companies or organizations) be shaped differently? How does job satisfaction develop and change and how can employers become more attractive? These and other questions will be addressed by the speakers of the lecture series in the summer semester 2019 as part of the Ost-West-Kolleg (OWK). The lectures will deal with various facets of the topic of "Working in Europe" - and our region - from an academic, political and civil society perspective.

The East-West College is a public lecture series in cooperation with the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the Institute for Cultural Infrastructure Saxony. Professor Dr. Matthias Theodor Vogt (Faculty of Management and Cultural Sciences) is responsible for the conceptual and organizational design in the winter semester and Professor Dr. Raj Kollmorgen (Faculty of Social Sciences) in the summer semester. The various topics of the lecture series are dedicated to current problems and development processes that are particularly evident in the German-Czech-Polish border region.

The lectures will take place fortnightly in the summer semester 2019 (odd calendar weeks), on Thursdays 4.15-5.45 p.m. in the GI building, lecture hall 0.01.

The lecture series is open to all students and employees of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and is also aimed at interested members of the public. After each 45-60 minute lecture, there will be an opportunity for discussion with the speaker and the audience. The OWK is an opportunity for dialog between experts and the public, science and practice in the border triangle.
