Women are underrepresented in politics. One reason for this is that women still do most of the so-called care work. This makes it more difficult for them to get involved in politics alongside work and family. In addition, the male-dominated organizational structures of most parties make it difficult for committed women to rise up the ranks. Most parties are aware of this problem and are already working on regulations to improve the compatibility of political commitment with work and private life and to strengthen disadvantaged groups.

However, women should not wait for awareness and legislation to change. They must take the initiative themselves and support each other. In addition to taking on sponsorships and mentoring programs, politically successful women can act as role models for the public and engage in conversation with women interested in politics. The series "Demokratie ist weiblich. Women in Saxon politics".
