Tour of the natural fiber research center LaNDER3-Halle
Hochwaldstraße 14, 02763 Zittau
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Jens Weber talks about the effect ofCO2 as a greenhouse gas and about ideas from our research onCO2 reduction in the production of new materials. There will be opportunities for discussion.
Prof. Weber teaches a variety of courses at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG), including "Physical Chemistry for Life Sciences (Fundamentals)", "Special Aspects of Physical Chemistry" with a focus on electrochemistry, water treatment and radiochemistry, as well as various modules on polymer and colloid chemistry.
In his research, Prof. Weber concentrates on the application of porous materials for gas separation and water treatment as well as on the fundamentals of porosity characterization using gas adsorption. Other areas of research include plastics chemistry, particularly in the field of materials and surface modification, in collaboration with the ZIRKON Institute of the HSZG. He is also researching natural fiber-reinforced composites as part of the LaNDER³ project.
His latest ERDF project "Evaluation of recyclable materials for electrical engineering" focuses on the topic of silicones in high-voltage insulators and the improvement of this almost 100-year-old successful plastic.
Felix Rothe works as a laboratory engineer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and has been passionately making German-language acoustic music under the band name Audiolyse since 2006. His songs touch both the heart and the mind.
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to visit the natural fiber research center in the LaNDER3 hall.
The focus of the LaNDER3network is on living and producing at the industrial level of the 21st century with what nature has to offer - natural fibers, (bio)polymers, circular economy and renewable energies - this is where the researchers see our future.
To this end, they have established a lively, regionally anchored network in Lusatia with the aim of holistic material and technology development in the field of natural fiber-reinforced plastics (NFRP).
The tour of the technical center provides a concrete insight into the practical research work of LaNDER3.
