3rd dialog event "SOZIAL.INNOVATIV strengthening rural areas"

The Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion is organizing the dialogue series "Sozial.Innovativ.Sächsisch". Three events will bring together experts from civil society, welfare, the social economy, politics and local authorities to exchange ideas. The third dialog event will focus on rural areas and the question of how social innovations can support future-oriented structural change.

Rural areas are becoming increasingly attractive: rising rents in cities, opportunities for mobile working and the recreational value of rural areas are attracting young families in Saxony in particular. At the same time, rural regions are facing particular challenges, for example in the areas of services of general interest, social infrastructure and economic development.

The revitalization and promotion of rural areas as living and social spaces will be of particular importance in the near future. Social innovations can make an important contribution here, as their aim is to develop and implement new ideas and overcome social challenges.  

The third event in the "Sozial.Innovativ.Sächsisch" series will focus on the importance of social innovations for rural areas. In addition to the latest scientific findings, the focus will be on exchanging ideas with experts as part of the "Sofia Talks". The aim is to discuss the scope for action and potential in the various fields of innovation together with the participants and to develop ideas further.

The background to the series of events is the planned funding of a future platform for social innovation from the European Social Fund (ESF). The results of the dialog events will be incorporated into the funding concept.
