Open laboratories

  • Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

    Theodor-Körner-Allee 8, House IV a, Room 0.01, Google Maps, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Transparent mechatronics lab: Vehicle diagnostics - what kind of data can I read out and what can I do with it?

Identification and testing of controlled systems using HiL (Hardware in the Loop). The HiL simulation serves as a simulation of the real environment of the controlled system, the parameters of the controlled system can thus be optimized in the laboratory (without the availability of the real environment).

The following two laboratories can be visited as part of the electrical engineering laboratory tours at 11:45 am and 2:15 pm
Meeting point: Information stand Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science House Z IV

    EMC laboratory:

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) has become increasingly important in recent decades because we are surrounded by a large number of electromagnetic waves. All devices and systems must therefore be able to withstand such interference up to a certain level without functional impairment. On the other hand, they themselves may only emit waves (interference radiation) up to a certain level. The metrological verification is very complex and requires special laboratories. Take a look at our EMC laboratory, it's worth it!

    Smart grid laboratory:

How can the grids of the electrical energy supply of the future be equipped with the necessary intelligence to meet the challenges of the energy transition? How can the electrical power supply lines be protected against overload? What can be done when supply and demand for electrical energy do not match? Take a look at practical solutions in our laboratories.

Participation stations

  • Electrical engineering and computer science

Theodor-Körner-Allee 8, House IV, Google Maps

    • Experiment station: Omni-Bot robot
How does the robot manage to navigate through a labyrinth without a "navigation system"?

    • Experiment station: Process automation
Whether robots, cars or even airplanes. With control technology, we can control and improve everything the way we want it. Come along and experience a short journey into automation technology. Together we want to design a model for a water tank. You can decide how full it should be and it should automatically pump in or drain exactly as much water as you need. We can then "simulate" the whole thing like a computer game. At the end, we build a control system so that the whole thing works dynamically and thus control a real machine!
