At the end of September, Prof. Dr. Falk Maiwald spent a week at UNECON in St. Petersburg as part of the ERASMUS+ lecturer mobility program. The stay was characterized by various courses on digitalization and business models as well as intensive discussions with cooperation partners and scientists from UNECON and guests from Germany and abroad.
In several lectures, Prof. Maiwald presented findings from his own current research in the field of digital transformation of business models, especially in banks, and discussed this with the very interested Master's and Bachelor's students as well as colleagues from UNECON, in particular Prof. Dr. Svetlana Yanova, Head of the Department of Banks, Financial Markets and Insurance, and Prof. Dr. Tatjana Nikitina, Head of International Center for Financial Markets Research (ICFMR) and Director of the Russian-German Centre. The colleagues then invited Prof. Maiwald to an academic exchange and cooperation, which was manifested by his ceremonial admission to the ICFMR, where he will work on the focus area of digitalization.
His visit to St. Petersburg also paved the way for the active continuation of the cooperation between Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and UNECON, which Prof. Dr. Clemens Renker had been intensively cultivating and successfully establishing for many years. The talks at the Russian-German Center, which also included the first points of contact with the tourism management and healthcare management courses offered at both universities, paved the way for future cooperation.
A meeting with Prof. Dr. Georgy Bagiev, the renowned "marketing pope" of Russia, initiated and accompanied by Prof. Dr. Clemens Renker, was of particular importance. Together with Ms Anastasia Ptucha from the management of the Russian Association of Inventors and Innovators (VOIR, Moscow), joint research activities and publication projects in the field of digitalization and marketing were discussed.
The seven-day stay in "Piter" was rounded off with an intensive foray through many top-class cultural experiences, including in particular the opera performance "The Tsar's Bride" in the "Mariinsky 2" theater, which undoubtedly formed an inspiring but analog contrast to the digital focus of the week.
The activities were funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union (KA 107 - Mobility with Partner Countries).
