The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, is seeking to fill a part-time position (24 hours/week) as part of the project "Whereabouts of international university graduates in Germany: Individual, institutional and regional factors - RegIA" funded by the Saxon State Parliament as soon as possible.

Research Assistant (m/f/d) - Keyword: RegIA -

limited until 30.09.2025.

The RegIA project is investigating the individual, institutional and regional factors that influence how international students remain in Germany after graduation. To this end, existing data from national student surveys are analyzed and a focus survey is conducted among international students in the final phase of their studies.

The position holder (m/f/d) will be responsible for the following tasks in particular:

  • Supporting the project management and the cooperation partners in the described research project,
  • Collaboration in the preparation and statistical analysis of existing quantitative survey data,
  • Assistance in conducting qualitative interviews and group discussions with international students,
  • Publication of the research results in national and international peer-reviewed journals,
  • Presentation of research results at national and international conferences,
  • Support with project administration and organization,
  • preparation of project reports.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed academic university degree related to the above-mentioned field of work and with a focus on empirical social research, preferably in the social, economic or educational sciences (Master's degree, diploma, accredited Master's degree from a university of applied sciences),
  • good or expandable knowledge in the collection and analysis of quantitative and/or qualitative data,
  • very good written and spoken English.

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Knowledge of software-based (Stata, R) analysis of quantitative survey data (multivariate statistics),
  • alternatively: knowledge of planning and conducting qualitative interviews/group discussions,
  • further language skills and
  • experience in research and project management.

We expect you to

  • a high affinity for topics of labor market, education and migration research,
  • enthusiasm for scientific work and interest in a doctorate,
  • an independent, structured and goal-oriented way of working,
  • a confident manner, a high level of communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and in a team,
  • willingness and interest in further professional and personal development and
  • the willingness to participate in meetings, conferences and other business trips.

If the personal requirements are met, remuneration will be paid up to pay group 13 TV-L. The 1st place of work is Görlitz.
