The participation field of action has a special status in the BNC, is not comparable with other management systems and reflects the specifics of universities as collaborative institutions in which people work, learn, teach and research together across generations.
Participation combines the element of a field of action and the content of a building block and is deliberately placed centrally in the scheme. This allows universities to select measures based on the selected modules across all fields of action. The aim is to involve all university stakeholders in the co-design of a sustainable campus.
As a result, target groups can be addressed precisely and effectively and measures from the modules can be planned, implemented, evaluated and further developed more effectively and synergistically.
In addition, voluntary participation, personal commitment and reflection on thoughts and actions should be increased, thereby strengthening and continuously advancing the effectiveness of the system.
