Faiz Bin Nohr Mood presents the results of his practical semester work at the Power Plant Technology Colloquium in Dresden.
In the winter semester 2023/2024, Mr. Faiz Bin Norh Mood completed his internship semester at SCHOLZ Recycling GmbH. Scholz Recycling GmbH is a company that professionally recycles cars, trains, technical equipment and various aggregates on a large scale. In addition to metal recovery, the focus is increasingly on the recycling of plastics. BLACK is the predominant color in technical applications - whether cars, tools, household appliances or information technology. As black bodies absorb a large proportion of the radiation, sensor-based sorting using infrared radiation is not easy. The company SteinertUNisort, as a plant manufacturer for sorting technology, has taken up the challenge and developed a new sorting system for this group of plastics. The student had the opportunity to accompany the commissioning of this system at the Espenhain site with his experiments as part of his twenty-week practical semester.
Sampling took place in the real waste stream and ended up with four samples, each with 1000 black reference particles. Each particle was given a number so that it could be analyzed and found again during the experiments.
In addition to the specialist knowledge required, a great deal of patience and sensitivity was needed.
With the results, Faiz Bin Norh Mohd was able to show that the sorting system met the customer's required specifications for the material streams examined. ZIRKON welcomed the company representatives to Zittau for the presentation of his results at the end of the practical semester.
On October 9, Faiz Bin Noor Mohd had the great opportunity to present his work at the 2nd Saxon Student Conference as part of the 56th Power Plant Technology Colloquium. In a selection process, the work was chosen by a jury in the field of recycling management in the process engineering section. It's great that these formats exist for students.
A big thank you goes to our practice partners SCHOLZ Recycling GmbH and UnisortSTEINERT GmbH for providing exciting and practical topics for student work and the trusting cooperation within the framework of joint research projects.
