Important information on the realignment of our Master's degree program "Mechatronics"

We have decided to realign our Master's degree course in Mechatronics and are therefore suspending enrolment with immediate effect. Our aim is to allow applications for the modernized course from May 2025 for the winter semester 2025/2026. Thank you for your understanding.

The new course will be called Master's in Electrical Engineering and will start in the winter semester 2025. The Master's has a duration of four semesters and you can choose between the specializations Mechatronics and Intelligent Networks and Systems.

Good to know

The mechatronics program is concerned with the integration of various technologies in the development of new processes and products.

The Master's degree is the admission requirement for doctoral studies in accordance with the respective doctoral regulations. It is thus equivalent to a university degree. The master's program in mechatronics includes two theory semesters and one semester for the master's thesis. The place of study is Zittau.

In the second semester, the modules are taught in English.

    Completion of a Bachelor's degree program in the fields of mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields of study with a minimum of 210 ECTS credits.

  • Study objectives

    The primarily application-oriented Master's degree course takes place in an interdisciplinary technical degree course in "Mechatronics", which is based on the classic specialist disciplines of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering and combines these integratively with the knowledge areas of electronics, automation technology and computer science. As a Master of Engineering, you will be able to take on changing tasks in your professional life by expanding your knowledge in line with the progress of science and technology at
    and to take on interdisciplinary tasks in applied research, development and production in mechanical engineering, automation technology, electrical engineering/electronics and computer engineering and to perform managerial tasks. Special advantages in the quality of the training and the technical equipment of the laboratories result from numerous research projects with leading industrial companies. Mechatronics is an  interdisciplinary degree course run by the two departments of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. This means that the diverse practical contacts of both departments are directly available to you for your career entry.
