The history and future of energy research

The Saxony5 team made a successful contribution to the Open Monument Day at the CELSIUZ Co-Creation Lab.

Zittau, September 10, 2024 - On Sunday, September 8, 2024, the Co-Creation Lab CELSIUZ in the Mandau-Höfe Zittau opened its doors for the "Open Monument Day" and offered visitors an exciting insight into the history and future of energy research. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., more than 300 interested people took the opportunity to discover the wide range of activities offered by the Saxony5 project team and learn more about the work of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, despite the sweltering 30°C temperatures.

In the CELSIUZ, we offered a "museum area" that highlighted the fascinating history of the Mandau farms with product examples and chronicles from the textile heyday, as well as a digital hands-on game about the energy transition that delighted both young and old. Visitors were also able to follow the development of energy systems then and now at the large control room and find out about the university's current research projects. A table tennis table provided a sporting diversion, and information stands about studying at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences also met with great interest.

The Open Monument Day at CELSIUZ not only offered exciting insights into energy research, but also the opportunity to get to know the Mandau-Höfe in Zittau and the university's commitment to a sustainable future.

The positive response and the great interest shown by visitors made the event a complete success.
