In this workshop, we will look at university teaching and the roles of teachers and students against the backdrop of the social and technological developments of our time. The aim is to use fresh ideas and concepts to shape contemporary university teaching in the coming years.
The workshop is divided into four thematic areas:
1- Introduction, assessment and success
To begin with, we will uncover traditional patterns and evaluate them in terms of their future viability. We will locate university teaching in the educational landscape with a particular focus on future development. We will also look at the concept of success/learning success from different perspectives (students, teachers, university, society, ... ) in order to derive goals and visions for teaching concepts.
2- Valuable resources
Time and energy are valuable resources for everyone involved, students and teachers alike. How can we make the best possible use of these resources? We will look at how we teachers can consciously deal with the students' trust in our courses. At the same time, we will learn to allow students to take responsibility for their own learning success.
3- Teachers' vision
How should students develop in my course and how does this fit into the bigger picture of the curriculum? We will use this clarity to develop ideas and concepts for courses by creating inspiring learning environments and looking intensively at the aspects of assessment and evaluation.
4- Focus on the students
The final part of the workshop focuses on the students and their perspectives on our teaching concepts. We will focus in particular on learning support and its effect on students. How can we teachers enable students to develop their best potential? Furthermore, an awareness of continuous professional and personal development of teachers will be generated in order to ensure that teaching concepts and learning support are always up-to-date and future-oriented.
