Digital Workspace (for teachers): Using and promoting the potential of digital skills in teaching

What will the teaching of tomorrow look like? Digital skills and especially the use of AI are becoming indispensable. The workspace provides an insight into the topic, helps with the targeted selection of tools and shows possibilities for transfer.

Begin 13. November 2024 - 09:30 Uhr
End 13. November 2024 - 13:00 Uhr

Digital skills have been an important topic in university teaching not only since the emergence of ChatGPT at the end of 2022, but have become even more important since then. As cross-cutting future skills that affect all areas of life, including the modern working world, digital skills have become an integral part of the curriculum. This requires new approaches to combine them with existing teaching concepts and subject-specific learning objectives. With the ever faster changing requirements of the world of work, a dynamic coordination of teaching with topics such as AI handling or data security and media skills is indispensable.

However, the promotion and integration of digital skills into the curriculum often presents teachers with a variety of challenges. The increasing use of digital media and applications in our everyday lives makes it clear that it is particularly important not only to be able to use them, but also to reflect on them critically.

The aim is to make better use of the diverse potential of digitalization. The workspace is dedicated to clarifying relevant terms and topics as well as the opportunities of digitality. This course allows you to choose from a wide range of offers and thus tailor your further education experience to your own goals and needs. What you can expect:

- Introduction to and overview of the subject area of competence/future skills/digital competence

- A look at your own level of digital competence and opportunities to expand it

- Suggestions for integration into your own teaching based on tried and tested teaching concepts

- Creating your own concepts and specific offers for students to develop skills in a subject-specific context

What is a digital workspace?
In open workshop formats, all actors involved in the implementation of teaching at the partner universities (see below) can work on the conception and development of digital media-supported teaching-learning scenarios. By drawing on a wide range of expertise and exchanging ideas with peers, they not only expand their individual skills, but also directly implement a specifically planned project in the field of digital university teaching. This creates direct added value for the teachers themselves and the universities as a whole.
