HSZG hosts the annual conference on engineering education

Participate with current research or teaching contributions, reports and practical examples.

The Annual Engineering Education Conference will take place online from 17 to 19 June 2021, co-organized by our university. The Ingenieurpädagogische Wissenschaftsgesellschaft would like to reflect on and discuss the triad of human-technology-production and service structures as a reference for future-oriented, sustainable educational processes.

The topics of the annual conference are:

  • Do modern production and service structures determine human action?
  • How can production and service structures be designed to meet humanistic standards?
  • Which pedagogical-didactic possibilities, concepts and methods are effective for technical education?
  • 4ING-Session (Faculty Days of Engineering and Computer Science at Universities): How can young people be made enthusiastic about technology and what can technical faculties at universities do to achieve this?
  • What (new) demands are placed on the personality of the teachers and what demands are placed on the learners?
  • What are viable (ethical) rules of wisdom for overcoming new challenges?

All these questions underlie the debate on how sustainable concepts of technical education can emerge from tradition and innovation so that teachers and learners can help shape the future responsibly for themselves and others. And young people's enthusiasm for technology? This year's 4ING session will focus on this topic.

In continuation of the focal points and discussions of previous regional conferences, contributions on the following topics are also welcome:

  • Fundamental issues in engineering education
  • What constitutes good teaching?
  • Ethical issues in technical education
  • Vocational education
  • Women in technical careers
  • Best practice examples of innovative concepts in teaching and studies
  • Goals of the UN's Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 and UNESCO's 2030 Education Agenda and their contribution to technical education
  • Miscellaneous.

Please consider the following aspects when submitting your contribution (detailed abstract):

  • Relation to the subject area
  • Objective of the contribution
  • Central question
  • methodological approach
  • (interim) results

The contributions will be evaluated in a double-review process and made available to the authors as feedback. Following the conference, the contributions will be published as a detailed paper in a conference volume.
