The Digital Higher Education project is entering the next round.
The digital higher education process is taking off and entering the next round!
What has been achieved and what's next?
As if it were yesterday, the joint project Digital Higher Education in Saxony (DHS), a cooperation between the Saxon colleges/universities, the Higher Education Didactics Saxony (HDS) and the e-Learning Working Group (AKeL) of the Saxon Rectors' Conference (funded by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism), was launched at the end of 2019. The project focuses on the implementation of measures of the state-wide digitization strategy for university teaching to promote the transformation of studies and teaching in the context of digitization in accordance with the strategies of the participating partner universities. Coordinated by the HDS, the HSZG sub-project of the joint project is located at the Center for Knowledge Transfer and Education under the direction of the Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sophia Keil.
With the aim of developing and implementing innovations in the field of teaching and learning with digital media in Saxony, the network operates along three lines of action in which a large number of measures have already been successfully implemented:
With the Digital Fellowship Programme, teachers and students at all Saxon state universities and universities of applied sciences have received financial support to further develop their teaching and teaching activities in the context of digitalization. As a result, a large number of innovations and cross-university collaborations have been created that provide valuable transfer impulses beyond the duration of the project, details of which can be found here.
Examples of this are the successful fellows of the HSZG:
- Prof. Dr.-Ing. J. Meinert - Fellowship project LernSMART - E-assessments to promote self-directed learning processes in engineering
- Prof. Dr. M. Zschocke - Fellowship project Working Across Borders - A multicultural digital project
- Dr. Ing. Sebastian Herrmann - Fellowship project Thermopr@ctice for OPAL - Further development of the e-learning system in engineering
- Dipl. Ing.Übersetzerin M. Heidig - Fellowshipprojekt OnlineLanguagePlacement
An overview of all Fellows as well as interviews with the Fellows can be found on the pages of the E-Learning working group.
As part of the Digital Change Agents multiplier programme, actors working at the interfaces of teaching organization (e.g. course and module coordinators) were given the opportunity to expand their skills in the area of change management and process consulting with a view to the topic of university teaching in the context of digitalization in order to have a lasting impact on the transformation process at the study organization level. The following people have been trained as Digital Change Agents at the HSZG:
- Dr. S. Heidig - main topic: "Initiation of a low-threshold exchange format for lecturers"
- M.Sc. S. Riedel - main topic: "Conception of a digital continuing education campus"
- M.A. S. Benad - main topic: "Digital transformation of internal faculty communication processes"
- Dipl.-Komm.-Psych. E. Schuster - Main topic: "Conceptualization of a module for the development and promotion of digital skills of students"
An overview of all Digital Change Agents of the Saxon network and their focus areas can be found on the website of Hochschuldidaktik Sachsen.
In open workshop formats, so-called digital workspaces, actors involved in the implementation of teaching at Saxony's state universities and universities of applied sciences can work on the conception and development of digitally supported teaching and learning scenarios. By drawing on a wide range of expertise and exchanging ideas with peers, they have the opportunity to promote individual skills and directly implement a concretely planned project in the field of digital university teaching. This creates direct added value for the teachers themselves and the universities as a whole(details on the format). Current focal points are workspaces with the topics: "Self-tests to promote learning (e-assessment)" and "Shaping the teaching of tomorrow - with future skills (digital skills and AI)".
Further information on the Digital Workspaces (topics, dates and much more) can be found in the project's OPAL course:
As part of the project, a wide range of measures for strategy development for the digitalization of education and teaching as well as the transfer promotion of good teaching could be promoted and contributions made to the HSZG's Action Plan adopted as part of the digitalization initiative. Further details can be found on the project website:
On behalf of the Rectorate, the Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sophia Keil, would like to thank the Fellows of the faculties and the structural units for the successful implementation of the Fellowship projects and congratulates all Digital Chance Agents on the successful completion of their further training. Special thanks go to all those who supported the Digital Higher Education project and, through their participation in the offers that were accompanied by the project, took the opportunity to participate and transfer in order to advance the digitalization of higher education. In this way, it was possible to create an alliance of various experts that would hardly be possible without such a network.
We are therefore pleased to announce that the project will be extended by one year until 31.12.2024. You are still cordially invited to participate in the services provided.
