At the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz (HSZG), Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, within the framework of the project "EdgeVision" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), a position (40 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as a

 Research Associate (m/f/d) Edge Vision

- Reference: 46-2024 EdgeVision AR/VR-

to be filled for a limited period until 31.05.2026.

                                                                                                                                                   

Embedded systems in combination with AR/VR or XR technologies, together with energy-efficient hardware modules, offer a wide range of possibilities for the development of intelligent systems for human-technology interaction in the field of wearables.

The aim of the project is to research artificial intelligence technologies and AR/VR or XR methodologies, to identify innovative application possibilities and to test them in practical test samples. The technical/scientific content consists of researching and developing necessary AR/VR methods to realize identified use cases and application requirements.

The job holder (m/f/d) has the following tasks in particular:

  • Analyzing and assessing existing AR/VR technologies in terms of their suitability to achieve the project goal,
  • Conceptual and technical planning and implementation of the experiments necessary to fulfill the work objectives for the AR/VR technologies used (HUD/HMD/CAVE),
  • Planning and controlling the testing of functional models and sample applications,
  • Development of specific requirements in cooperation with the project partners,
  • Evaluation and correction of the AR/VR models and methods developed with regard to the identified requirements,
  • Writing and presenting project reports and scientific papers.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Preferably a university degree in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, mechatronics or technical physics (at least B.Sc., M.Sc., Dipl.-Ing., Dipl.-Inf. or comparable degrees)
  • Specialist knowledge and experience in application areas of AR/VR or similar technologies,
  • Experience in software development in C# or C/C++ or other high-level languages and common software development tools,
  • Experience with visualization tools and methods,
  • Experience in the preparation of scientific publications,
  • Written and spoken German and/or English, project language German,
  • confident appearance and communication skills.

In addition, the following are desirable

  • extensive experience
    • with common office software,
    • with AR/VR frameworks and AR/VR hardware as well as
    • in project management.

If you have a scientific university degree and the other personal requirements, you will be paid in pay group 13 TV-L; if you have a university degree as Dipl.-Inf. (FH), Bachelor or comparable, you will be classified in a graded requirement level up to pay group 12 TV-L. The 1st place of work is Zittau. A probationary period will be agreed.
