At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Zittau Institute for Process Development, Circular Economy, Surface Technology, Natural Materials Research (ZIRKON), within the framework of the project Evaluation of Circular Materials for Electrical Engineering (CircMat4EE ) funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), a part-time position (20 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as a

Research Associate (m/f/d)

to be filled for a limited period until 30.06.2027.

The position holder will work on scientific tasks for the electrotechnical characterization of novel materials, in particular

  • Conceptual and technical planning of the experiments necessary to fulfill the work objectives in coordination with the project team,
  • Determination of basic parameters (complex permittivity, dissipation factor, volume resistance, short-term electrical strength) of the materials produced by the team,
  • Determination of resistance to ageing, resistance to creep path formation and erosion via creep resistance, arc test,
  • Writing interim and final reports and presenting them during the course of the project,
  • Participation in the writing of scientific contributions for international and national anthologies, conferences and meetings and their presentation and discussion.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Preferably a scientific university degree (Dipl.-Ing., Master, accredited Master from a university of applied sciences) in the field of electrical engineering,
  • Experience in the field of conceptual design, construction of high-voltage test rigs and independent execution of experiments,
  • Independent discussion of scientific content with industrial partners and other research institutions (colleges, universities, research centers),
  • Written and spoken German and/or English (B2),
  • Communicative and creative skills for the presentation and discussion of results in expert panels (conferences).

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Experience in writing technical test and experimental reports,
  • Experience in the use of MS Office and Labview or Python.

If you have a scientific university degree and meet the other personal requirements, you will be paid in pay group 13 TV-L; if you have a university degree as a Dipl.-Ing. (FH), Bachelor or comparable, you will be classified in a graded requirement level up to pay group 12 TV-L.  The 1st place of work is Zittau.
