The HSZG is awarded the family-friendly university audit certificate for the first time.
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was honored on 18 June 2024 at the 26th berufundfamilie Service GmbH certificate award ceremony in Berlin. On behalf of the HSZG, the Rector of the university, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch, accepted the certificate for the first time at a ceremony. The quality seal for the 'family-friendly university' was presented by Lisa Paus MdB, the audit patron and Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Oliver Schmitz, Managing Director of berufundfamilie Service GmbH and Prof. Dr. Dr. Helmut Schneider, holder of the SVI Endowed Chair for Marketing and Dialogue Marketing at Steinbeis University and Certification Officer of the berufundfamilie Board of Trustees.
The HSZG is one of a total of 306 organizations - 119 companies, 151 institutions and 36 universities - that were awarded the audit berufundfamilie or audit familiengerechte hochschule certificate this year. The awarding of the quality seal was preceded by a structured auditing process lasting several months, in which solutions were developed to improve the compatibility of studies, career, family and private life and the family-friendly orientation was anchored in the culture of the university . At the auditing workshop at the end of November 2023, participants from all areas developed goals for the various topics and developed a wide range of measures from them. These objectives and measures were compiled in a list by the beginning of January 2024, underpinned with responsibilities and deadlines and presented to the Rectorate. Following their approval, they were submitted to berfundfamile and, after a positive review, the certificate was presented at a ceremony in Berlin.
Oliver Schmitz also emphasized the importance and responsibility of organizations in his statement at the certification ceremony, which was held under the motto "Responsibility reloaded: Who, what, how much?": "Companies, institutions and universities that are involved in the audit berufundfamilie or audit familiengerechte hochschule for work or study-life balance take responsibility for setting and promoting work-life balance as a strategic issue. They systematically fill this responsibility with life, so that family and life-phase awareness becomes a driver of their culture. In this way, they are also responsible for dealing adequately with the individual needs of their employees and, where applicable, students - and thus for the functionality and survival of their company. That is unique!"
