Purposes of data processing

The HSZG collects data as part of a teaching research project to investigate and further develop special data collection and analysis methods.

Categories of personal data

The comments made by the participants in the group discussions constitute personal data that are processed by the HSZG as part of the teaching research project. The following categories of personal data are processed for the aforementioned purposes.

  • Image and sound recordings
  • Surname, first name, age, gender, nationality, country of origin, type of higher education entrance qualification, religious affiliation, marital status, parenthood, employment, course of study, current semester, intended degree, arrival in Germany

Legal basis

The processing of personal data from group discussions is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR on the basis of informed consent. If special categories of personal data are processed in accordance with Art. 9 para. 1 GD PR, this is done on the basis of your consent in accordance with Art. 9 para. 2 lit. a GDPR.

Recipients

The HSZG discloses the data to the following recipients exclusively for the purposes of this processing activity:

  • Persons responsible for carrying out the teaching research project and their participants

The HSZG does not directly transfer personal data to a third country or an international organization.

Storage duration

Without prejudice to your right to erasure(Art. 17 GDPR), the data will be stored for the duration of the fulfillment of their collection purposes until the end of the winter semester 2023/24 

Rights of the data subjects

As a person affected by the processing of your personal data, you have the following rights if the legal requirements are met:

  • You have the right to information about the processing of your personal data(Art. 15 GDPR).
  • You have the right to rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning you (Art.16 GDPR)
  • You have the right to erasure of your personal data (Art.17 GDPR).
  • You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data (Art.18 GDPR)
  • You have the right to data portability of your personal data (Art.20 GDPR)
  • You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time (Art.21 GDPR)
  • You have the right to withdraw your consent to data processing at any time. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out on the basis of your consent until revocation remains unaffected(Art. 13 para. 2 lit. c GDPR).
  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Saxon data protection officer

Provision of personal data

According to Art. 13 (2) lit. e GDPR, the provision of personal data is not required by law.

Decision-making and profiling

This processing activity does not involve automated decision-making or profiling in accordance with Art. 22 GDPR.
