The future areas of application of thermochemical storage are diverse. From seasonal storage of solar heat to load balancing in district heating networks and short-term buffer storage for surplus heat, there are other interesting areas of application for manufacturing companies.
The storage density is several times higher than that of conventional heat storage tanks with water as the storage medium, meaning that these systems can be installed in smaller spaces. Unused or surplus energy can be stored in thermochemical storage units over a long period of time with virtually no losses . This potential as an alternative storage medium should be considered.
Find out more about the different technologies and storage materials at the first webinar of the Energy Storage Working Group on June 11, 2020, together with the IPM of Zittau Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
