Mental hygiene for helping professions

"This is my dance area and this is your dance area" (quoted from the movie Dirty Dancing)

My name is Barbara Kerber and I have a degree in social education. I have been working for more than 10 years in the field of outpatient help, primarily in the area of social-pedagogical family support.
In my everyday work, I visit the families. In doing so, I am confronted with the most diverse living environments and human destinies.
In practice, for me this means, among other things, being able to perceive the living environment and the existing solution strategies of the existing family system. These factors influence me and affect me
in different ways. I was able to deal with the following questions right from the start:

  • What personal strategies do I find helpful in differentiating between professional and private life in order to stay healthy?
  • How can closeness and distance interact in the profession?
  • And what are the possible consequences of too much or too little of this?

Would you like to take a closer look at the concepts of mental hygiene and closeness-distance behavior? Or find out what role the conscious use of language and humor play?
Sharing your experiences, challenges or fears together can also help you to reflect on a variety of things.
Develop a more concrete idea of your dance area.
