The healthcare market is constantly changing and is one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy. Increasing health awareness among the population and the advancing digitalization of medical care require experts in the healthcare sector. The IBS Academy therefore developed the Bachelor's degree program in Healthcare Management to respond to the high demand for management positions in healthcare management and to create a time-efficient opportunity for career advancement. The study period can be shortened by up to three semesters through credits.

  • Admission requirements

    You have a state-recognized qualification:

    • A certified health and nursing school
    • a vocational secondary school (BHS) in Austria  or a commercial academy or
    • a secondary school for business or tourism professions in Austria
    • as a business economist in Germany

    The degree can be credited with up to 60 ECTS points.

    It is also possible for healthcare and nursing graduates to enter the course without a Matura. This will be checked on a case-by-case basis . The Admissions Office at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will decide on a case-by-case basis. Qualifications from third countries are excluded!

    Healthcare Management

    The degree program qualifies you for the following tasks, among others:

    Upgrade Bachelor's degree specifically for graduates of HAKs, HLWs and business colleges

    Health Economics

    The Management in Healthcare - Health Economics degree program has been specially tailored for graduates of HAKs, HLWs and business colleges. Due to your previous business education, it is possible to have business administration modules (60 ECTS) credited, which can shorten the study time by up to 3 semesters. The course focuses on social and health science content. This opens the door to a career in the healthcare sector.

  • Target group

    The Management in Healthcare degree course was developed for working qualified healthcare and nursing staff, as well as people working in the senior medical-technical service. If you want to develop your career or aspire to a higher position in the health and social sector, this is an ideal solution. 

    Graduates of commercial academies or higher education institutions for business or tourism professions in Austria can also join the course.

  • Study objectives and content

    The Bachelor's degree course in "Management in Healthcare" is a response to the constantly increasing demand for interdisciplinary qualified personnel. The aim of the degree course is to train specialists and managers for a variety of roles in the healthcare sector.

    Students acquire broad specialist knowledge from the fields of management, medicine and health science as well as methodological knowledge, particularly in the area of empirical social research. During the course of the program, students specialize in the field of health economics through the modules Health Economics, Inpatient and Outpatient Care and Innovations in Healthcare.

    Renowned experts from various institutions facilitate the mutual transfer between science and practice.

  • Study objective

    The degree course is offered with the aim of training specialists for employment in the healthcare sector. It is characterized by an interdisciplinary form of acquiring skills and teaching material.

    This gives students the opportunity to

    • qualify at an academic level while working,
    • acquire generalist knowledge for managing companies in the healthcare sector and
    • develop their methodological, communicative and personal skills in addition to their specialist business knowledge

    Fast, part-time Bachelor's degree program with the best work-life-study balance

    The IBS Academy brings high-quality European study programs to Austria with the best work-life-study balance. With us, you don't have to choose between work and study. The degree programs can also be completed alongside a full-time job. For graduates of a diploma in health care and nursing (field of study: Health Care Management) or a HLW, HLT, HAK or a college (field of study: Health Economics), credit transfer is also particularly attractive. This can save you up to three semesters. Personal support throughout the course and top-class managers as lecturers are further plus points.

    In the lectures, students benefit from an intensive, direct exchange with lecturers and fellow students. Our personal student support team is on hand to provide advice and assistance throughout the academic year.

    The entire study phase comprises approx. 11 weekends: As a rule, this is Friday late afternoon, Saturday and Sunday all day. In addition, there is one intensive week in the winter semester and one in the summer semester (i.e. a total of 2 weeks for the entire course) - alternating between attendance and online. If you are unable to attend the lecture on site, you have two options: Attend the lecture live online (from wherever) or watch the recorded lecture later. Almost all lectures are also recorded. Right at the start of the course, a detailed study plan with all blocks and dates enables students to plan their learning units in good time alongside

    The IBS Academy is a private education provider that cooperates with European state universities. The IBS Academy finances its study places by charging tuition fees.

    You can pay your tuition fees for as little as 274 euros/month! Here is a list of all payment models

    (with max. 60 ECTS credits):

    • 30 monthly installments á 274,- Euro
    • 18 monthly installments á 452,-Euro
    • 3 installments á 2.660,- Euro

    In addition, there is a one-off registration fee of 465 euros and an examination fee of 500 euros.

    The study programs were subjected to a notification procedure by  AQAustria in accordance with § 4 para. 2 of § 27-MeldeVO 2019.     In the event of revocation of the notification decision by the Board of AQ Austria, the study programs may no longer be offered in Austria. The notification of the study programs is valid until 24.11.2027.

    The decision on the notification of the degree programs does not imply a determination of equivalence with Austrian degree programs and corresponding Austrian academic degrees. The studies and academic degrees are deemed to be those of the country of origin or domicile (Germany).
    Equivalence in the higher education sector between Germany and Austria was already established in 2003 by abilateral agreement https://www.ris.bka.gv.at/GeltendeFassung.wxe?Abfrage=Bundesnormen&Gesetzesnummer=20003247  .

    The international reputation of our degrees can also be seen in the fact that our graduates are accepted with open hands at many renowned universities abroad. Even in elite Oxford, we have an IBS graduate who is completing a PHD program at Oxford Brookes University and is already working there as a lecturer.
