4th Chemistry Student Academy on the topic: Color - an interdisciplinary approach

Do you like chemistry as a school subject? Then take part in our ONLINE lectures on interesting CHEMISTRY topics. Here you will be on the trail of scientific phenomena in an understandable way.

This will help you at school and may also pave the way for you to study natural and environmental sciences later on.

Content and focus of this online lecture:

Color - an interdisciplinary view

  • History, diversity and application of colorants,
  • Presentation of the chromophore model according to Witt with a focus on: Relationship between light absorption and color, chromophoric group as a conjugated π-electron system and influence of auxo- and antiauxochromic groups,
  • Presentation of the mesomerism model and application of corresponding knowledge about the model to dye classes with given structural formulas

Our emeritus lecturer Prof. Dr. Dieter Greif was a lecturer at the HSZG in the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences.
