Since June 01, 2021, M.Sc. Robin Tannert has been working as a new research associate in LaNDER³ "Consumables"
Hello Robin,
You've been at the Institute for a few weeks now and only know most of your colleagues in the VTR working group from the weekly online meetings. Although the breakfast meetings are not taking place at the moment, we would still like to get to know you better.
What attracted you to apply for the research topic "Consumables"? Have you had any previous experience with this topic?
I completed my bachelor's degree in chemistry at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and then moved to Dresden to do a master's degree in chemical engineering at the HTW. I stayed true to my passion for chemistry and successfully completed my Master's thesis.
What is the "Consumables" project about?
The project is part of LaNDER³ and is managed there as impulse project 6 (IP 6). We want to use natural fibers in biodegradable disposable products. I am working on the formulation and in particular on the question of which binders can be used for this application. As the use as disposable tableware is planned, the surface must be modified so that it is resistant to hydrophilic/hydrophobic liquids.
The aim is to develop disposable products with sustainable recipe ingredients that have good resistance to water and/or oil during use and are fully biodegradable at the end of use.
Zittau is surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes and nice neighbors. Have you had the opportunity to explore any of it?
I was born and grew up here - so I know the area very well. I like to get out and about with my dogs and explore the area. I like to go hiking or jogging around Lake O with my friends.

Have fun exploring the "dishes of the future" and thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.
See you soon at the LaNDER³-Technikum Lukas & Anett
