Professional background Numerous projects have been researching the topic of microplastics for several years. It is assumed that soils act as a sink for microplastics and that microplastics accumulate more in soils than in aquatic ecosystems. The extent and effects are currently the subject of research worldwide. Workshop background With the project "(Micro)plastic in the soil", a series of workshops was launched with the aim of presenting current research projects and results from various institutions.
