The ZukLOS team, CASUS and DZA initiate pilot project to promote computer literacy among schoolchildren.
The second working meeting with representatives from the Center for Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS), German Center for Astrophysics (DZA ), Augustum-Annen-Gymnasium Görlitz, Christian-Weise-Gymnasium Zittau and the university took place on August 31, 2023. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sophia Keil, Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, the working group is planning a pilot project to promote computer science education for pupils at lower secondary level.
The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences currently offers around 80 courses for pupils and schools. The offers aim to provide pupils from grade 8 onwards with exciting insights into the world of science and research. At the same time, the offers give pupils the opportunity to get to know the university and the courses it offers.
As part of the pilot project, the plan is to incorporate the student offers and develop them further in line with demand so that they can then be made available to schools as modules with concrete links to learning content in computer science lessons. At the same time, new offerings on selected key topics of the research institutions will be jointly designed and tested with pilot schools.
The next working meeting will take place in Dresden in December 2023, where the DeltaX student laboratory at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf will first be explored and the content-related work will continue immediately afterwards.
