As part of the RUBIN Enviroplast project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, is seeking to fill a position (40 hours/week) as a

Research Associate (m/f/d) Materials Science

- Reference: 39-2024 RUBIN-MW -

to be filled until 31.05.2027.

The post holder has the following tasks in particular:

Scientific contribution to a clean, de-carbonized future based on sustainable engineering plastic parts,
Management and processing of research projects in the field of biocomposites,
Coordinating and conducting scientific trials with CO2-negative plastic composites using biogenic residues,
Development and analysis of plastic compounds with residue-based natural fibers and fillers,
Research and development in the field of new process technologies for natural fiber-reinforced plastics,
Close collaboration with cooperation partners from industry and science,
Attendance at international specialist events (trade fairs, conferences, etc.) for scientific exchange and publication of research results.

The following knowledge and skills are required

Completed scientific university degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, materials engineering or comparable,
Practical experience in plastics technology and processing of plastics or compounds,
Ability to work in a team and interest in professional exchange,
Fluency in written and spoken English.

The following are also desirable

Experience in compounding and material analysis,
Experience in the preparation of scientific publications,
Experience in the management and acquisition of research projects.

Further information

If the personal requirements are met, remuneration will be paid up to pay group 13 TV-L. The 1st place of work is Zittau.
