The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill a W2 professorship in the Faculty of Social Sciences in the field of

Social casework and integrative methodology in social work
- Reference number: SW-119 -

to be filled full-time.

The position includes the representation of the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, in particular with the following focal points:

  • Social casework as a method of social work
  • Integrative methodology and case work in social work
  • Ethics and social management in the context of methodical action in social work

The person holding the position (m/f/d) is expected to teach basic courses of the discipline and profession of social work such as methods of action, self-reflection and supervision of internships in addition to the courses relating to the above-mentioned focal points. Practical experience in social work in the field of individual social casework and methodical work with cases is expected. Knowledge in the field of child protection is desirable and can be incorporated into the courses.

The teaching commitment is to be implemented in lectures, seminars, exercises, internships and projects as well as in continuing education. The offer is to be secured university-wide if required. The ability and willingness to teach in English is a prerequisite. Courses related to the area of appointment are to be taken on as required.

In addition to teaching duties, the candidate will be expected to carry out independent research and development tasks in the area of appointment. A corresponding level of commitment is required, as is a willingness to engage in socio-spatial networking. The candidate must be actively involved in the internationalization of the university and the further development of the subject area. Tasks in academic self-administration are to be assumed. In addition, commitment to projects in the field of knowledge and technology transfer is expected.

 

Appointment requirements

The prerequisites for appointment are a completed academic university degree, a proven pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training, a special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, as well as special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in a professional practice of usually five years, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector.

 

Reference is made to the Saxon Higher Education Act of May 31, 2023 (SächsGVBl. p. 329), which was last amended by Article 2 of the Act of January 31, 2024 (SächsGVBl. p. 83).

 

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • A university degree in social work, sociology or educational science with a focus on social work/social pedagogy or a related discipline is expected.
  • Proof of special aptitude for in-depth, independent academic work must generally be provided in the form of an above-average and relevant doctorate.
  • The professional career must demonstrably relate to the content and tasks of the professorship.
  • The development of the professional identity of our students, the transfer of relevant specialist knowledge and identification with the special phenomena of the subject are the focus of the future holder of the position (pedagogical and didactic aptitude), whereby appropriate teaching experience must be demonstrated.
  • Experience in applied research and knowledge transfer.
  • Experience in the conception, establishment and accreditation of study programs as well as in the acquisition of third-party funding is advantageous.
