The networking of the VDE University Group Zittau picks up speed.
Networking generally means making and maintaining contacts for the purpose of exchanging information. One student from the VDE university group in Zittau knows that this can be a lot of fun.
Niklas Fabricius is studying Electrical Energy Systems on the KIA course and is a member of the VDE University Group (HSG) Zittau, which was founded in October 2019 by students Lucas Wünsche, Sven Kaminsky and Marcus Wöckel.
"The VDE University Group Zittau is a member of the Association of German Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies. We are the network for the 'e-dialists' of tomorrow," explains the student.
The VDE Verband der Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik e. V. (VDE) is a technical and scientific association founded in Germany in 1893 under the name Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE). Today, the VDE is one of the largest technology organizations in Europe.
Last September, part of the board of the VDE Dresden district association met with the Zittau university group to get to know each other in Königstein. A fast-paced start to the meeting was guaranteed by a trip on a powerboat on the Elbe organized by the HSG Zittau. The powerful 270 hp and quick changes of direction by the boat driver made for an exciting trip and a lot of twirled hairdos.
HSG's aim is to support prospective electrical engineers individually in their professional and personal growth. "In order to position ourselves well, we have networked with the HSG at TU Dresden. The relationship literally picked up speed during the joint powerboat trip," recalls Niklas Fabricius, smiling as he talks about the first big meeting with his network colleagues.
"After the boat trip, we took the ferry to Halbestadt. The VDE Dresden board and HSG Zittau were able to get to know each other over a meal together," says Niklas Fabricius. The board presented the structures, events and key aspects of the association's work at VDE Dresden. HSG Zittau reported on its founding history and spoke about ideas for joint cooperation in the future.
In particular, integration, networking and promotion in and by VDE Dresden as well as the VDE as a platform for knowledge exchange were presented as key focal points. Niklas Fabricius: "This exchange was immediately put into practice over the course of the meal and there was a lively chat about projects, study content and current research. Things we are currently working on." Following the introductory meeting, the VDE University Group Zittau also encouraged its own group dynamics during extensive hikes through Saxon Switzerland this weekend.
In order to make the university group as sustainable as possible in Zittau, the HSG works very closely with the Electrical Engineering Student Council to get students from different year groups interested in the VDE network. The members also receive support from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the HSZG.
For the further growth of the VDE HSG Zittau, new members and other multipliers in the faculty are being sought.
If you also consider a trip to Saxon Switzerland to be an attractive networking opportunity and are also interested in acting as a multiplier for the field of electrical engineering, electronics and information technology, then the VDE University Group Zittau is looking forward to hearing from you at
