As part of this year's graduation ceremony, the FERCHAU Sponsorship Award was presented to a graduate of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences for the first time.
On behalf of FERCHAU Engineering GmbH, personnel officer Dirk Wieltsch presented the award.
Mr. Jens Maiwald was honored for his achievements during his studies. He graduated as a graduate industrial engineer (FH) with the grade "very good" in the specialization field of energy management and energy technology. Mr. Maiwald earned the sponsorship award primarily through his diploma thesis, which received the highest grade.
Under the supervision of Prof. Schütte and in cooperation with the engineering company for energy systems VPC GmbH, an active contribution to resource conservation in practice was created under the title "Development of a simulation model for optimizing the use of CHP systems in combined operation".
The specific aim of the work was to economically optimize the use of an existing heat-led plant fleet in Berlin based on a given load profile. A suitable calculation tool was developed taking into account the technical conditions.
On the basis of the calculation results and the comparison with characteristic data from practice, it was shown where there is potential for improvement in plant operation. The high flexibility of the simulation model can also be used to check the influence of a plant expansion or dismantling on the operation of the plant fleet.
