The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, is seeking to fill a vacancy as of 01.03.2025 in the field of

Social work with a focus on intersectionality and inequality

- Reference: SW-114V -

for the duration of the replacement of a professorship (W2), but until 28.02.2026 at the latest, a part-time position (20 hours per week).

The position includes the representation of the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, in particular with the following focal points:

  • Social inequality and intersectionality in social work theory and practice,
  • Social group work as a method in social work organizations.

The person holding the position (m/f/d) is also expected to hold basic courses in social work as a discipline and profession, e.g. methods of action or internship supervision. The above-mentioned focal points should also be implemented in professional practice in an advisory capacity.

Lectures, seminars, exercises, internships and projects as well as continuing education courses must be held in German and English. If necessary, courses in areas related to the field of appointment must be taken on.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • A successfully completed academic university degree related to the above-mentioned subject area,
  • special aptitude for academic work, which is generally demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate,
  • experience in applied research and knowledge transfer,
  • a proven pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training in the university sector as well as relevant teaching experience, if possible at a university of applied sciences and in the main subject area,
  • demonstrable connection of the professional career to the content and tasks of the professorship,
  • Ability and willingness to teach in English.

  • to develop the professional identity of our students, to impart relevant specialist knowledge and to identify with the special phenomena of the subject
  • independent performance of research and development tasks in the field of appointment,
  • active participation in the internationalization of the university and the further development of the subject area,
  • Collaboration in research priorities and transfer projects of the HSZG, in particular participation in the university's third mission,
  • Experience in the conception, establishment and accreditation of study programs as well as in the acquisition of third-party funds is desirable,
  • assumption of academic self-administration tasks.
