Prof. Dr. Knut Petzold talks about what social change means for research in the podcast of the Federal Institute for Population Research (BIB).
In the BiB.podcast "Population research - demographic insights into social change", scientists from the Federal Institute for Population Research report on their studies and findings.
Working from home, difficult housing searches and demographic change are changing the way we live and work. What this means for research will be discussed by sociologists PD Dr. Heiko Rüger (BiB) and Prof. Dr. Knut Petzold from the Faculty of Social Sciences in the podcast.
The number of single households has been rising for years. Baby boomers - whether living alone or as a couple - can hardly be expected to reduce their living space in the future. This in turn makes it more difficult for young families to find a suitable home, as they in particular need more living space. In addition, the trend of moving from cities to suburban and rural areas has weakened again recently.
