Team Rektorat-Hochschule challenges the mayors of the cities of Zittau and Görlitz.
The Rector of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch, did not hesitate for long when the call for a pedometer challenge to the staff and students of the university landed in his mailbox. Let's join in! Together with the Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Sophia Keil, the Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Raj Kollmorgen and the Chancellor Karin Hollstein, he formed a four-person rectorate team. A quick phone call was all it took for him to convince the mayors of the cities of Görlitz and Zittau to join forces as another team of four. For the first time in the pedometer challenge, there will be a leader ranking.
"By taking part, we want to show the university's connection to the cities where it is located. Sport unites! As representatives of a shared region, we want to use this motivation to illustrate our close relationship," explains Rector Alexander Kratzsch.
The pedometer challenge is held every year as part of the Health and Environment Days at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The GuT Days, which have been taking place since 2016, are held in cooperation with the city of Zittau. Even if they cannot be held as usual this year, that is no reason for Eric Schön to forgo the pedometer challenge held as part of the event:
"The best way to stay fit and healthy at the moment is by observing social distancing and hygiene measures. But we can also incorporate running, climbing stairs and going for a walk into our everyday office, home office and study routine. Exercise in the fresh air promotes physical and mental well-being and a healthy immune system." Mr. Schön coordinates the competition on behalf of the HSZG.
The rules:
The defending champion from 2019 is HSZG with a total of 1,141,666 steps.
We wish all participants lots of fun with their daily exercise and will report on our social media channels.
