At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG), as part of a project funded by the Free State of Saxony to implement the Coal Regions Investment Act (InvKG) and in connection with this as part of the    "Center for Green Circular Economy  - CircEcon" in the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park, a full-time position (40 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as

Coordinator Technical Center Setup (m/f/d)

to be filled on a temporary basis until 31.12.2027.

In CircEcon, our mission is to establish a globally unique technology pool for the circular economy in the Schwarze Pumpe industrial park in the heart of the Lusatian coalfield. We are realizing the project in cooperation with four Saxon universities - TU Dresden, TU BA Freiberg, TU Chemnitz and the HSZG.

The main objectives of the project are the development, construction, commissioning and initial use of several pilot plants, which are intended to help difficult, previously unresolved sub-steps of comprehensive and sustainable recycling achieve an industrial breakthrough.  The focus of the HSZG is on the construction and operation of the pilot plant section for manual and automatic dismantling, material sorting and parts of thermal recycling. Outside the area of activity of the position advertised here, the partners TU BA Freiberg, TU Dresden and TU Chemnitz will map/realize further topics relating to the circular economy at the site.

The position includes the following tasks in particular:

  • Collaboration in the preparation of investment activities (funds from the InvKG) at the location of the test facilities of the CircEcon-Campus Spreetal/Schwarze Pumpe by participating in the planning of test facilities and preparation of corresponding specifications,
  • Direct supervision and control of construction, assembly and commissioning services in accordance with deadlines and quality standards, including interface management with subcontractors and scientific partners,
  • Equal representation of the interests of all organizational units involved in CircEcon on the part of the HSZG, especially the ZIRKON and IPM institutes and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,
  • especially planning and setting up the analytics laboratory,
  • Acquisition of funding for the establishment of operations from 2027,
  • Networking to integrate the project into the internal and external research landscape of the HSZG as well as with resident and potential new companies in the region of the CircEcon campus,
  • Supervision of student assistants and graduation theses in the project,
  • Reporting to the project managers, documentation and collaboration in the presentation of project progress.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • University degree in an engineering-related subject such as structural/civil engineering, process engineering, energy technology, industrial engineering or comparable,
  • Several years of practical professional experience and specialist knowledge
    • to supervise and coordinate the construction of structural facilities and work on complex projects,
    • dealing with external companies/service providers,
    • the procurement of test facilities and equipment,
    • project planning and design of pilot plants,
  • high level of communication skills and interdisciplinary thinking,
  • very good written and oral communication skills,
  • high self-management and problem-solving skills as well as organizational talent,
  • Class B driver's license.

The following are also desirable

  • Experience in guiding and leading teams,
  • Practical experience in research work and knowledge of the procedures and operation of research facilities,
  • a working knowledge of English,
  • Knowledge of economic and socio-political developments in the Lusatian coal mining region Schwarze Pumpe.

Further information

The remuneration for tariff employees is up to EG 12 TV-L if the professional requirements are met. The first place of work is in the Schwarze Pumpe / Spreetal industrial park, the introduction to the project (probably 6 months) takes place at the IPM site in Zittau.
